07 March 09 - RIDI takes a stand

In a departure from the retailing norm, RIDI Lighting operates a permanent display at ‘The Building Centre' - home of London's Showcase Galleries which allow architects and designers to seek out the latest innovation in building technology.

Located alongside displays by a number of manufacturers of cutting-edge commercial building products, RIDI's ‘mini showroom' features a wide range of luminaires from the company's architectural range of products for commercial interiors.

Mike Attard, managing director at RIDI Lighting explains the advantages the Building Centre has over a traditional retail environment:  "The benefit of displaying our products at The Building Centre is twofold:  Not only are we able to target a specific audience - those architects and interior designers that specify components and building services - but, with each product fully fitted and functioning, that architect is able to appreciate, first hand, the photometric performance of the luminare, as well as just its size and scale."

Currently on display, alongside a number of RIDI's suspended luminaires, is the wall-mounted CORONA-Lumo which has recently been upgraded to include an integral three hour battery option, ensuring efficient emergency lighting, as well as eye-catching design.  Also, with the release of a number of award winning products, including the super-flat 13mm, pendant mounted, Vision III and the addition to the range of energy-saving LED options, the display at The Building Centre perfectly highlights RIDI's broad commercial catalogue, suitable for applications ranging from the classroom to the office and even sporting arena.

The Building Centre is a free resource, open to the public as well as the trade and customers are able to browse at their leisure, without prior appointment.  However, RIDI is equally able to organise an accompanied guide to the products on display.

As Mike adds, convenience is key:  "With a construction literature library and meeting rooms available on site, the architect or designer is able to view a whole host of products, all in one visit, and discuss products with manufacturers."
