RIDI Leuchten GmbH – company history to date

2007 building of an all new, modern, environmentally friendly factory and distribution site in Poland. 

2005 the Swiss agency is completely absorbed in the company’s association and is named now RIDI Switzerland CORP.  

2004 Brand new automated machinery is deployed at Jungingen. 

2002 Major refurbishment of administrative building in Jungingen with an all new training facility and additional floor added 
 
2001 acceptance of the remaining shares of Eukolux RIDI CORP. in Switzerland. 

2000 All new automated logistics centre is built on our main site with a vastly increased capacity
Official formation of RIDI in Poland 
The production area for the RIDI LINIA fabrication at Rellingen increases to around ca.  1000 ms². 
New RIDI main catalogue with 632 pages printed for the first time in German, English, French and Danish

1998 RIDI expands is production facilty in P5 to cater for increased output. 
 
1997 RIDI sets about developing new product ranges for the NEW T5 lamp technology
Construction of all new fabrication hall. 
Foundation of RIDI Elester in Poland. 

1996 we take over Eukolux CORP. and are now under the name Eukolux RIDI CORP. as our new subsidiary in Switzerland. 
New LINEA system replaces VL system with new advanced automation methods. 

1995 Achievement of ISO 9001.  

1994 Formation of RIDI France in Strasbourg. 

 1993 Formation of the RIDI Lighting ouside London in Harlow. 
Berlux (company site in Berlin) opens its new facility

1992 Construction of new main production hall and increase warehousing. 
RIDI decides to expand into export markets.  RIDI lighting gmbh starts with Vienna which becomes its first directly owned sales agency abroad.  

1991 RIDI produces its first major architechtural technical luminaire called the ABS series which becomes the first in many new direct/indirect luminaires.
The reunification in Germany gives us the opportunity to purchase the firm Berlux which is integrated into the RIDI group.

1989 sees a major expansion of downlighter and diffuser luminaires. 

1987 The new SL fast assembly pre-wired trunking system is seen as a milestone for RIDI.  In order to meet the demand RIDI sets up a new facility in the north, Rellingen (nr Hamburg) specifically for the new SL range.
 
1980 RIDI produces the first luminaires with technical parabolic louvres. 

1975 New screen technology fuels demand for better technical luminaires in German market. 

1970 Company shifts towards technical orientation from domestic one. Domestic market now taken over by cheaper imports so RIDI has to change. 
This year RIDI lighting exhibits for the first time in the Hanover fair. 

1957 Richard Diez formally establishes the firm RIDI lighting and begins with the production of kitchen luminaires for local specialty distributors.  Because the trade flourishes, the product range is expanded into lights for other domestic spaces.  Through agencies, contacts are made nationwide to the wholesale trade. 

1952 Richard Diez formally sets up in Jungingen as an independent electrical contractor and soon grows the business into a large local company.
